Google News Alerts can be limited to just US government press releases with the site: operator. This simple trick can turn Google News Alerts into an automatic clipping service for government press releases:
site:gov

If you add the right keywords, you can track government news about any industry:
clean energy site:gov

From there it is a simple step to turn this into a great source of leads for new government contracts. Just add words like bid, grant, or contract:
clean energy (funds OR bid OR contract OR grant OR rfp OR awarded) site:gov
