Better Buzz Management for Google Alerts
Our goal when we set out to build AlertRank was simple. As Google Alerts users we knew that it was a great tool, but the more we used it, the more overwhelmed we became with the flood of emails it generated. We decided to build a management tool that would organize, prioritize, and analyze the mass of excellent information Google Alerts produces.
The result is a product that is simple in concept, yet extremely powerful, sort of like Google itself.
Here's the basic idea:
- When you create an AlertRank account, we give you a new email address on our server. All you have to do is tell Google to send your alerts to this address. We receive your alerts, and take care of all the management tasks automatically.
- We research each alert, and generate a complete set of ranking values that help you understand the online influence of each one. We also collect the type of data about the Web page for the alert that PR people and SEOs find especially useful.
- All of the ranking values are consolidated into a single Quality Score that is used to put the most important alerts right up front.
- Then the improved copies of the alerts are sent along to your normal email address. We made sure that this entire process is lightning fast, so there is no delay in receiving your alerts.
- We also send you a daily Excel spreadsheet summary with all of your alerts, so you can analyze them and produce custom reports.
- Copies of all your alerts are kept on our server, and made available in an online management tool that lets you sort, search, and produce reports on every alert you have received.
- We do background research on all the sources of your alerts, and make this information available as well. This background information is invaluable in helping you build online relationships with key influencers.
- The coolest part of AlertRank is the analytics tool. We are big fans of Google Analytics, so we built the same type of research tools for Google Alerts.
